Golden State King of California Sprint Car Series Kicks off in March
by Troy Hennig
ROSEVILLE, CA (12-27-05) - A productive twenty-seven-race schedule was released from the office of John Padjen Motorsports for the Golden State King of California Sprint Car Series this past week. The 2006 schedule is molded with 10 different tracks spread across three Western States during a challenging five-month series.

The King of California Sprint Car Series starts off with the annual two-day Mini Gold Cup races at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. This prominent race is a gateway into the weeks ahead. Chico will serve as the backdrop in four more visits by the series. The prestigious Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race will continue on May 13th. This race is traditionally the highest paying one night show in the season. July will serve as a busy month with three dates locked in. July 8th the drivers return for a one-day show. The season will come to an end July 28 and 29 at Silver Dollar Speedway with the running of the Cherry Street Mini Storage weekend challenge. Extra money will be on the line for the overall two-night points leader.

The Tulare Thunderbowl will host the most nights of racing this year for the King of California Sprint Car Series with seven confirmed dates. April will serve as their busiest time with three races in the month. April 1, 15 and 29 will have a strong importance for teams running for the championship. These three races at one track early in the season will hold a benchmark of things to come if a team is truly a championship contender. The series also returns on May 20 and June 24. The final two dates will serve as a double header on July 21 and 22. Tulare is stepping up as a major force of dirt track racing on the West Coast.

Placerville Speedway will host three events in 2006. Starting off with an early race on March 25. The only mid-week race is scheduled for Wednesday night, May 10. The Alan Padjen prepared speedway will host the final race on June 3.

The famed ˝ mile speedway in Calistoga will see only one race weekend this year on May 27 and 28. The annual Walt Ross Memorial will be hosted on the 27th and the tribute to Gary Patterson Memorial on the 28th.

Petaluma and Antioch Speedway’s are getting more involved with the series. Together, the tracks will hold four races in 2006. Petaluma’s two dates are on April 22 and June 10. Antioch will host a show on April 8 and July 1.

Watsonville Speedway will host two shows later in the season. One is scheduled for June 2, while the final race is on July 15.

After taking a year off from the schedule the Reno-Fernley Raceway in Fernley, NV will host a one-night show on May 6. This unique facility gives the Golden State teams a chance to race in Nevada.

The California teams will cross the Oregon border on Monday night, June 12 at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Oregon. Traditionally, this race has been run on a Tuesday night. But this year it was moved to Monday, trying to accommodate an extra travel date for those participating in the Dirt Cup later the week.
